Spectacular Midsummer festival in Norway!

Each year Norway is starting the summer with a massive celebration called Slinningsbålet.
Norway builds a massive midsummer bonfire and this year they beat their own record.
The bonfire is 34 meters high one meter higher than last year .

Watch in the video below how the tower is being built.

The flaming tower is always built on a small piece of land that is surrounded by the ocean so when it topples, it falls into the water and can’t cause any damage.

Pyramidenkogel, Linden, Austria

The Pyramidenkogel Tower is, with it’s height of 100 meters, the world’s highest wooden watch-tower. It’s on top of the 851 metre high mountain “Pyramidenkogel”.
The construction of wood is combinated with steel. It gives an magnificent view over over Carinthia (Austria) and beyond its borders.
The original Pyramidenkogel Tower, with a height of 54 metres, was built in 1968 and made of steel and concrete. It has been replaced in 2013 .

The current tower is designed by the firm Klaura & Kaden. The new tower has an elliptical wooden steel structure. The structural steel wood construction twists like a screw into the sky. With 441 steps to the observation deck, 100 meters to the tip of the antenna and around 300 tonnes of steel in the interior, it is the new landmark at the Wörthersee and currently the tallest wooden tower in the world.

This special attraction is the tallest building in Europe with a depth of almost 52 meters.

Royal palace in Caserta park, the Aqueduct of Vanvitelli and the San Leucio complex Italy 

In 1734, Charles III (Charles de Bourbon) became King of Naples. In 1750 he decided to built a new royal palace to exceed the Palace of Versailles and the Royal Palace in Madrid as a symbol of the new kingdom. The monumental complex is special because of the way it brings a magnificent palace together with its park and gardens, as well as the surrounding natural forests, hunting lodges and a silk factory. The Palace is a distinct reflection of the Enlightenment in material form, more integrated than imposed on the natural environment.

The palace is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

We got some tips you might not want to forget to check before leaving your house.

1. InsuranceYour insurance is one of the most important things.
Close your travel insurance to be covered against damage that you may incur during the holidays.

2. Important DocumentsIs your passport still valid? Yes A lot of countries require a passport to visit. In some countries your passport must be valid for 6 months after leaving the country.

3. Medication Check if your travel destination requires vaccinations.  Not all medication is available in other countries. If you have special medication review your dosage schedules with your doctor.
Always take a first aid kit on your trip.

4. When you’re AwayMake sure your house is perfectly clean and fresh before leaving town/country. Ask your neighbors or relatives to take care of  pets, plants and the post while you’re away.

Visit one of the two largest Japanese Gardens in Europe. In The Netherlands that has just opened ! Free entrance!

One of the two largest Japanese Gardens of Europe is located in one of the smallest countries of Europe: The Netherlands (in The Hague). The garden  will only be open for public during a period of 3 weeks, from April till June 6th.

The Japanese Garden was created in the early 20th century by the former owner of the estate Clingendael, baroness Marguerite M. Brienen (1871-1939). The Baroness made multiple trips to Japan, during which she collected Japanese artifacts to be placed on her estate in The Hague. A few of the collected  things were lamps, water barrels, statues, bridges and a pavilion. This was the only Japanese garden in The Netherlands around 1910, and therefore has a high historical value. It is also the largest Japanese garden in The Netherlands, with an area of ​​6,800 square meters.

A place of peace and reflection The garden can be recognized by its unique and calm atmosphere, partly caused by the magnificent moss layer. The garden contains unique trees and plants. Because this flora is vulnerable, the garden is only open for public 8 weeks a year, during  autumn and right now during spring season. Another feature of this Japanese garden is the beautiful pavilion,  a popular place where you can have a glimpse of the entire garden.

You can visit the garden for FREE from 9 am till 8 pm each day.

This week ‘s pin is a very mysterious one.
The longest maze world the Longleat maze in England.

The maze is nearly 2 miles long and is part of UK ‘s # 1 safari park with more than 500 animals  on the grounds of Longleat House. Longleat is an English stately home and the seat of the Marquesses of Bath.

You are doomed to get lost as soon as you enter the maze.
A visit to the Hedge Maze can take from 20 to 90 minutes depending on how fast you are on finding your way to the middle!
The maze covers an area of around (0.6 hectares).

It’s a huge fun adventure finding out the way to the 6 bridges that will give you a glimpse of the observation tower.

An exclusive restaurant was built in Italy the ocean with stunning views over the Adriatic Sea: Grotta Palazzese. This enchanting restaurant can be found in Polignano a Mare in southern Italy and was built in a cave centuries ago, making it one of the world’s most beautiful and romantic dining experiences. The restaurant extends 74 feet above sea level, with cliffs which were cut out of limestone.

In the cave you can find a hotel and restaurant, they are cut out of limestone. The Hotel Grotta Palazzese in Polignano a Mare lies in an unique location and has been enchanting visitors for centuries. For those who have time to stay at the hotel, it offers luxurious rooms and suites cut out of limestone in the heart of the old town, combining all modern facilities with local antique furniture, all presented with a native touch. The hotel only contains 25 rooms, some that have a beautiful view of the sea, while the others overlook the winding streets of the old town with the characteristic white houses. If you would like to stay at the hotel, make your reservations in time!
